Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song (1971) is the legendary blaxploitation film that launched the genre. Melvin Van Peebles wrote, directed, stars, and even financed with a little help from Bill Cosby, this film about a very well endowed black male prostitute nicknamed Sweetback who fights "the man" after saving a Black Panther named Mu-Mu (Hubert Scales) from racist cops. Sweetback grew up in a brothel, where the ladies who know cock on a professional level gave him his nickname for having such a massive and useful peen back when he was just a young teen. Working as a sex worker at the brothel into adulthood, one day the cops try to pin a murder on Sweetback, but Mu-Mu gets him out of trouble with some well timed violence and some help from his Panther posse. Suddenly a fugitive, Sweetback sprints around the city looking for help, eventually trading his ex (Rhetta Hughes) some sex for help with his handcuffs. When he runs into a Hells Angel gang, he bones their female leader, too. Sweetback's plan is to flee to Mexico, but the cops are increasingly concerned his support from the black community is going to kick off a revolution. Will our badasssss make it to the border, or will the white cops take him down? Don't let the man get you down, just let the lovely ladies get it up! Yes, the sweetest rack in Sweet Sweetback belongs to Rhetta Hughes, who walks topless through a party, then lets Sweetback blow her back out! Lavelle Roby's love bombs are a lot tougher to spot, since her robe is open for just the briefest of moments. They're good, my brother! She'd make a great nursing mother! With all due respect to Melvin Van Peebles, those mams are the real MVP's of Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song!
