The Prophecy II (1997)

In between the releases of The Prophecy (1995), The Prophecy 3: The Ascent (2000), The Prophecy: Uprising (2005) and The Prophecy: Forsaken (2005) is The Prophecy II (1997). Like the other films in this franchise, the first sequel combines elements from the horror, fantasy and thriller genres. In other words, prepare to have your bone tingled! Christopher Walken walks his patented line between frightening terror and deadpan comedy. As the Archangel Gabriel, he’s hellbent on singlehandedly destroying the human race. Together with his peppy teen sidekick Izzy (Brittany Murphy), Gabriel sets out to destroy the unborn angel child of Valerie Rosales (Jennifer Beals), thereby throwing the violent battle between good and evil into utter disarray. Michael (Eric Roberts) and Samayel (Glenn Danzig) help give Greg Spence’s chiller diller some B movie muscle. The 83-minute movie also includes Bruce Abbott, Danny Strong, Elizabeth Dennehy, J. G. Hertzler, Nicki Micheaux, Renee Victor, Steve Hytner, and the fine flesh on Ms. Beals! Yes, the exotic eyeful comes through by delivering some skin amid the melodramatic acting. Just 16 minutes into the pic, Jen proves she’s all Flash and a little Dance when she offers up a very quick look at her sweet rack while in the sack with Danyael (Russell Wong). All it takes is one glance at her bare breasts and you’ll start humming Irene Cara’s “Flashdance...What a Feeling” (1983) hit. Only instead of singing the line, “Deep inside your mind,” you’ll be saying “Deep inside your loins.” At least, that’s Mr. Skin’s prophecy!
