The Plumber (1979)

Jill Cowper (Judy Morris), wife of Dr. Brian Cowper (Robert Coleby), is working on finishing her Master’s degree in Anthropology. When a plumber, Max (Ivor Kants), makes an unexpected maintenance check, Jill kindly engages him in conversation.  While Max determines that all the pipes need to be replaced, he soon begins to take over the house. During a casual chitchat, the odd and grungy plumber eventually reveals that he has spent some time in prison, which frightens the lonely housewife. Her friend Meg (Candy Raymond) and others find the ex-con plumber to be a nice and sociable chap, and they convince the worried thesis writer that she’s simple overreacting. In desperation, Jill devises a plan to get Max out of her life forever.
