The original Alvin Purple (1973) stars Graeme Blundell as the titular stud who’s servicing women for a sex therapist who knows he’s packing a cure. The film was a massive success and was even acclaimed for the serious themes behind its sex-farce plotting. The less-loved Alvin Rides Again (1974) skips the sex-crazed scenarios in favor of a comic tale of Alvin having to impersonate a dead American mobster--played by Blundell in a dual role. Alvin still gets in some loving, though, and the presence of Abigail, Chantal Contouri, and Briony Behets ensures that there’s more than one stiff in this movie.
