Decades before the American film industry released the action adventure The Lovers (2015) and the comedy The Lovers (2017), skinternational audiences were loving Louis Malle’s The Lovers (1958), also known as Les amants. When the French flick was first released it was billed as “The most talked about and fought about film.” What stirred up all the controversy? The raw carnal heat of French dish Jeanne Moreau in glorious black and white, that’s what! Indeed, she plays Jeanne Tournier, a married woman who, on the way back from her boyfriend’s place, considers seducing the stranger who’s giving her a ride. Wow! No wonder people were talking and fighting about this pic. Based on Dominique Vivant’s short story “Point de Lendemain” (1876), the erotic movie won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. We’re guessing voters were impressed by the drama’s sex scene. An hour and fifteen minutes into the movie, Ms. Moreau wears nothing but a pearl necklace as her man kisses her naked breast! If that’s not titillating enough, the dude moves down Jeanne’s body to pleasure her elsewhere. Alas, the flash of Mademoiselle Moreau’s mams is fast unless you use Skin-Vision. Although the film isn’t shot in English, the actress’s bare bod doesn’t get lost in translation! In fact, the movie’s nudity spurred an infamous Supreme Court case in the United States which found a theater manager not guilty of showing cinematic obscenity. Yet that doesn’t mean the judges didn’t find Jeanne Moreau guilty of being totally sexy!
