Mind-twistin' science fiction of the Twilight Zone variety, The Kovak Box (2006) comes wrapped in a tantalizing mystery: Who is pulling the strings and doing the spooky, spooky things that have turned sci-fi scribbler Timothy Hutton's life into a tale more warped than his famous books? When Tim and his main squeeze, Georgia Mackenzie, visit Mallorca for a conference, things get really messy—Georgia gets a phone call and then splatters herself all over the street below their super-swank hotel suite. Elsewhere on the island, juicy Lucía Jiménez gets a call, hears Billie Holliday in her ear, and does a swan dive of her own. Lucky Lucía lives, however, and together she and Tim start poking around, trying to pin down the cause of the spate of mind whammies and body slammings that are taking Mallorca by storm.
