The Happy Sad (2013)

The Happy Sad (2013) is one of those things, what do you call them? Not a mixed metaphor... an oxymoron, that's it! So yeah, The Happy Sad, it's quite a thing when you think about it, how something can be sad, but still kinda happy. The happy kind of sad, that's what I'm getting from all of this anyway. The film follows two couples, one made up of two African American men, the other made up of a white girl and boy named Aaron (Charlie Barnett) and Annie (Sorel Carradine). Annie has found herself more and more attracted to women over the course of her relationship with Aaron, which really comes to a head once she meets Mandy (Maria Dizzia). 33 minutes in, Sorel Carradine begins kissing Maria Dizzia. Then, in bed, Maria begins going down on Sorel, whose breasts we see. There's nothing sad about that, so lean into the happy end of things. I know what you're thinking, and yes, you'll probably be sad after you're happy. That happens to the best of us. The best thing to do is to embrace the sad and the happy and work together with the two to find the perfect balance in your life. That's what The Happy Sad is trying to teach us, that the happy and the sad live together in perfect harmony. Well, there will be plenty of harmony when you get a load of Sorel's breasts as Maria goes down on her, if you catch our drift! I thought you might.
