The Grifters (1990)

A smart and suspenseful tale of competing mom and girlfriend con artists, The Grifters (1990) is a film with style, violence, heat and sex. Produced by Martin Scorsese, directed by his handpicked choice of auteur, Stephen Frears, and based off a beloved Jim Thompson novel, the sylish story of sexy slicksters earned the rare four out of four stars from Roger Ebert. This clever flick about a family of con men and women stars Anjelica Huston as Lilly Dillon, an elite con artist who loves her son Roy (John Cusack) even if he's not half the criminal she is. She hates his con artist girlfriend Myra (Annette Bening), though, mostly because she's just as good a scammer as Lilly and wants Roy to quit the small con game and swing for the fences with her by helping with one giant score. Roy can't have both of these strong women in his life, and soon enough the butting of heads becomes too much to bare. Can these dueling confidence women use their acquired skills to take the other one down? You'll have to watch to find out. But if you're more into mams than scams, just fast forward to the skin stuff. Huston, we have liftoff! Yes, you'll get a rise out of the scheming momma seeing her booty cheeks jiggle as she gets into bed in some tight undies. But that's nothing compared to us getting to watch Annett Bening strolling around her house completely naked, as well as lie in bed completely nude while trying to seduce a mark. There's no need to pull off a trick when you've got a body that does wild things to our dick! Forget the con, just never have clothes on, and some dude will throw all sorts of sugar baby dollars at you! Hold on to your wangs and your wallets because we're pretty confident you'll fall for the con women in The Grifters!
