Rosebud (1975)

If you think Otto Preminger’s action adventure Rosebud (1975) has something to do with the childhood sleigh in Orson Welles’s Citizen Kane (1941), think again. Not to be confused with Cheryl Farthing’s short film Rosebud (1991) or Oscar Torre’s feature Pretty Rosebud (2014), this pic is based on the novel by Joan Hemingway and Paul Bonnecarrère. Although the movie is rated PG, it will make your trousers tighten! The action begins when Newsweek reporter/CIA operative Larry Martin (Peter O’Toole) is asked to work with Israeli intelligence on the release of a handful of wealthy young women who were kidnapped by the Palestinian Liberation Army and the extremist head (Richard Attenborough) of Black September. The damsels in distress include Helene Nikolaos (Isabelle Huppert), Margaret Carter (Lalla Ward), Sabine Fargeau (Brigitte Ariel) and Joyce Donnovan played by a teenaged Kim Cattrall. Not only does the role mark Kim’s movie debut, it’s also her nude debut! Indeed, once these babes are taken from a yacht named the Rosebud (so, that’s where the title comes from), they are paraded around in their birthday suits for a ransom film. As such, we get to view Ms. Cattrall’s bare back and booty. The same can be said of Ms. Ward’s fine form. And that goes double for Ms. Huppert’s derrière. Later, Ms. Ariel’s butt can be seen when her character sleeps in the buff. After her kidnapper comes into the room, she briefly exposes her breasts and a bit of bush. Alas, there’s no shot of her rosebud.
