Love can thrive even under the most difficult of circumstances, as shown in the German drama Die Verlorene Zeit (Remembrance) (2011). In 1944 Poland, Hannah (Alice Dwyer) and her boyfriend Thomas (Mateusz Damiecki) are both prisoners in a Nazi concentration camp. Despite incredible odds, they manage to escape, only to be forcibly separated at the end of the war. Thirty years later, Hannah is now married to another man and living in New York City; when she receives word that Thomas, whom she had long assumed to be dead, is in fact alive, she decides she must see him again. You won't have any trouble remembering Alice's apples, because as soon as she escapes the clutches of the Nazis, what's the first thing she does? Strips off her uniform for some outdoor lovin', of course! Wouldn't you?
