As the fourth entry in a tireless crime-film franchise, Relentless 4 (1994) proves that there’s nothing quite so relentless as Hollywood sequels. Oley Sassone’s film resurrects the character of Sam Dietz (Leo Rossi), a tough-nosed police detective who’s on the path of a notorious serial killer. Sniffing for clues is hard enough, but Dietz faces the added burden of placating a pair of beautiful women assigned to collaborate on the case. Partner Jessica Parreti (Colleen Coffey) and super shrink Sara Lee Jaffee (Famke Janssen) are strong-willed sexpots with egos to match their looks. Unfortunately both women play coy with the overworked gumshoe, leaving it to serial-killer victim Rainer Grant to fly the flesh flag, however briefly.
