Psycho Beach Party (2000) is a hilarious parody of the Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello beach flicks from the 1960s. But while those pics were sweet and innocent, this racy romp ramps up the suggestive subtext of the originals for a wild and wicked time. Speaking of the latter, the movie also spoofs the slasher films of the 1980s. In other words, mix Muscle Beach Party (1964), Beach Blanket Bingo (1965), and How to Stuff a Wild Bikini (1965) with Friday the 13th (1980), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), and Child’s Play (1988) and you’ll get just how bone-chilling and bone-inducing this humorous horror flick is. Based on Charles Busch’s same-named off-Broadway revue, the movie includes Kathleen Robertson, Kimberley Davies, and Kimberly Blair’s naked T&A! Set in 1962, the story gets underway when Chicklet (Lauren Ambrose) wants to learn how to surf. She’s a goodie-goodie schizoid whose other personality is a red-hot sexpot and possibly a murderess. But is she really the killer? There are a lot of suspects in Malibu Beach, including her black lace bra-wearing mother (Beth Broderick). Forget about the private eyes, the privates are more interested in investibating Marvel Ann (Amy Adams) and her marvelous body. The petite redhead dons a red, white and blue bathing suit that’ll make Yanks yank all the way to the spank bank! If that’s not arousing enough, AA’s bikini bottoms get ripped off by a guy. She covers her muff in a jif, but lets us peek at her beach bum!
