In the wry romantic comedy Producing Adults (2004), a pretty young Finnish woman gets more than she bargained for from her female fertility doctor. Venla (Minna Haapkylä) is determined to have a child of her own, but longtime boyfriend Antero (Kari-Pekka Toivonen) isn’t going to be any help, as he acquired a vasectomy without telling her. Desperate for help, Venla turns to a fertility specialist (Minttu Mustakallio) who promises to help the aspiring mother in her quest. The two get closer than expected, however, and soon strike up a romantic relationship of their own. It’s a good move all around, as it affords Haapkylä and Mustakallio the opportunity to work some Sapphic mojo onscreen.
