A wayward drifter (Irina Björklund) falls in with a Jim Morrison-worshipping barstool sitter (Samuli Edelmann) in the languid Finnish drama Minä ja Morrison (2001). Lenka Hellstedt lenses a sultry celebration of sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll that chronicles the unlikely relationship that develops between the free-spirited Milla (Björklund) and the directionless Aki (Edelmann), who’s trying to raise a son inured to the pot haze surrounding him. Hellstedt’s drama is well observed--particularly when it comes to the principal actors. Both Björklund and co-star Eva Röse make compelling cases for Finland’s fairer sex in roles that have them dropping their tops at nearly every plot twist.
