Parker (2013)

Considering Jennifer Lopez’s track record for making underwhelming romantic comedies — Maid in Manhattan (2002), Gigli (2003), Monster-in-Law (2005), Jersey Girl (2004), The Back-up Plan (2010), Second Act (2018), Marry Me (2022) and Shotgun Wedding (2023) — no one ever believes us when we say “no, really, J-Lo was great in the thrillers Out of Sight (1998) and Parker (2013).” The latter film has her paired with Jason Statham, who plays the titular honorable thief. Based on the series of novels by Donald E. Westlake (also known as Richard Stark), the film casts Jenny from the Block as Leslie Rodgers, an enigmatic divorcee with whom Parker teams up to get back at his double-crossing colleagues. Although her role doesn’t demand a lot of dramatic range, it does require the perpetual sex symbol to strip down to her skivvies. All it takes is one glance at Jen’s bra-busting boobs and panty-clad buns to forgive her past rom-com bombs. In other words, her built bod puts the thrills into this thriller! The film also features Bobby Cannavale, Michael Chiklis, Nick Nolte, Patti LuPone, and the fab flesh on Emma Booth! As Parker’s girlfriend Claire, the comely actress throws skinephiles a bone when she reveals her rack at the 20-minute mark and then bares her breasts again 54 minutes into the flick. Under the direction of Taylor Hackford, the R-rated pic proved to be a modest success at the box office. And thanks to Ms. Lopez and Ms. Booth, it also performed in spank banks!
