Padre Pio (2023)

A bearded Shia LeBeouf plays a real life Franciscan friar who became a saint decades after his death in 1968, concentrating mostly on the Italian priest’s time in rural San Giovanni Rotondo in Apulia, when the aftermath of the Great War led the way for facists to eventually come to power. While helping his congregation with their moralistic shortcomings, such as Asia Argento’s cameo as a man who confesses to him his desire for his young daughter, the guilt-stricken Pio must deal with his own temptations, like visions of a nude Marguerite Bourgoin licking a painting.
