Review

Two individuals afflicted with Asperger syndrome strike up an intense and moving relationship in Petter Næss’s unsentimental arthouse drama Mozart and the Whale (2005). Written by Ron Bass, the screenwriter behind Rain Man (1988), the film stars sexy Radha Mitchell as the high-energy Isabelle––a perfect romantic foil for the neurotic Donald (Josh Hartnett). After meeting at a Halloween party (where their costumes are, naturally, Mozart and a whale), the pair begins to navigate the highs and lows of a relationship based on friendship and mutual understanding. Oh, and also sex. Lots of sex. Don’t miss Mitchell as she strips down to her lacy black lingerie before sliding between the sheets.
