Mirror Wars: Reflection One (2005) was box-office boffo in Russia, where it went by the improbable name of Zerkalnie voyni: Otrazhenie pervoye. Promoted as a Russian Top Gun (1986), this flick stars Malcolm McDowell as an ex-CIA spook who's gone to the side of the terrorists. Now he's out to steal a new top-secret Russian stealth fighter in order to either sell it on the black market or polish off the American president, thereby provoking a dust-up between the Ruskies and the Yanks. Terror-ific idea, Malcolm! But don't forget to credit your mysterious handler, Rutger Hauer, when you're bragging about it later to the ladies. As the Russian Air Force tests and demonstrates its cool new toy—called "Sabretooth" (and played with aplomb by a real SU-35 fighter jet)—the shadowy bunch at the heart of the heist prepares for some ne'er-do-welling, the politicos scheme and pull strings, and the Russian test pilots (led by Alexander Efimov) do their macho thing. But will they be able to stop the badsters from taking off with Sabretooth?
