Jubilee (1977)

Great Nudity!

Review

If Jubilee (1977) has a message, it’s “Welcome to London and the decline of western civilization.” Derek Jarman’s British pic turns Buckingham Palace and Westminster Cathedral into recording studios to make punk rock music. Queen Elizabeth I (Jenny Runacre) is propelled into the future of the UK only to find there’s no OK future. Of course, there’s no sense explaining the nonsensical plot since it’s its own revolution of cinema. Shot on grainy stock, the movie showcases alternative lifestyles in a satirical way. On the upside, it boasts a Brian Eno score, a performance by Adam and the Ants, and a cameo by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Even better are the naked babes that grace the screen. For starters, Ms. Runacre repeatedly reveals her regal rack. If that’s not royal enough, she also bares her breasts, bush and booty 36 minutes into the movie. That’s also when a topless Crabs (Nell Campbell) dons see-through panties. Nearly an hour later, she displays her naked T&A. Not to be outdone, Viv (Linda Spurrier) adds her skin into the mix. At the 43-minute mark, Ms. Spurrier wakes up to find herself playing the part of the meat in a man-sandwich! When she hops out of bed, she gives us a nice long look at her fit and firm boobs, bush, back and bum. Linda even enjoys a morning cig to prove she’s literally smoking hot! Jubilee is defined as a celebration, and this flick is a fest of all things flesh. Long lust the Queen!
