Jam (2006)

It's a hot, halted Father's Day for five groups of travelers who get stuck in traffic in Jam (2006), an indie ensemble piece of the yackety-yacky ilk. When a stray dog on a rural highway causes traffic to come to a stop, out onto the mountain road stumbles an unlikely bunch: pregnant-and-about-to-pop Mariah O'Brien and her girlfriend, Gina Torres, go looking for a place to push the bun out of the oven, deciding finally on an RV piloted by a raggedy pair of thieves; a dad on a rare outing with his children bonds with an older man with much wisdom to share; Elizabeth Bogush, Amanda Foreman, and Amanda Detmer question their friendship as Detmer's wedding cake melts in the heat. Meanwhile other couples and families combust and make up under the unforgiving sun, but, unforgivably, Jam features no cans, glands, or buns.
