In the gangland drama Mafioso: The Father, the Son (2004), a Philadelphia Don finds the odds stacked against him when he decides to turn his criminal enterprise into a legitimate business. Antonio Paradiso (Robert Costanzo) has long made a killing as the ruthless point man for Philly’s La Costra Nostra family, but old age has mellowed him out. Desiring a more peaceful arrangement for his hot-tempered son (Sal Mazzotta), Antonio asks his consigliore (Johnny Williams) to generate a plan for legitimizing the family business. As the Don quickly discovers, however, Chinese Triad gangsters and hired-gun assassins aren’t about to let him get out of the game without getting his hands dirty. Fans of mob movies know that every Godfather (1972) needs its Diane Keaton, every Goodfellas (1990) its Lorraine Bracco. Thankfully Tamela D’Amico and Jaclyn Longacre are on hand to stock the buffet with their Italian meatballs.
