Harlan County War (2000) stars the adorable Holly Hunter as a Kentucky woman whose mine-worker husband is nearly killed in a cave-in, in the mines that is, not while having sex, though we’ll get to that in a bit. Why couldn’t it have been a long and sexy strike? That’s because the movie is basically a fictionalized account of a real strike, the longest mining strike in U.S. history, which you may recall from the documentary Harlan County USA (1976).
