God Will Not Help (2025)

In 2025, Croatian filmmaker Hana Jušić brought us the intense period drama God Will Not Help (2025), a dive into the quiet lives of simple farmers at the dawn of the 20th century. A Chilean woman named Theresa (Manuela Martelli) arrives at the home of a family in a remote mountainside town claiming to be the widow of Marco, the eldest son of the family who left two decades earlier to seek his own fortunes. Unable to effectively communicate with the family, she has his remains in tow and would like to bury them on his family's land, but they have no way of knowing if she is on the level, particularly as her bizarre religious rituals take on an increasing intensity.
