Amata (2025)

Translated to Beloved, this Italian drama adapted from a 2025 novel by the book’s writer, Ilaria Bernardini, centers on two women who become connected without ever meeting. One of them is Nunzia (Tecla Insolia), a nineteen-year-old studying far away from home whose life is upended by an unwanted pregnancy. The other is forty-year-old Maddalena (Miriam Leone), who has the exact opposite problem. She’s married to a pianist named Luca (Stefano Accorsi) and they’ve been desperately trying for a baby, but have been suffering through one miscarriage after another. When the couple decides to consider adoption, opportunity seems to shine on them, though fear and doubt threaten to interfere. Luckily, Tecla’s not afraid to go nude, having already done so in The Art of Joy. On top of donning a tight swimsuit, she bravely bares her breasts while rolling around in bed with Mehdi Meskar. That's putting the B in Beloved!
