Fort Saganne (1984)

The French epic Fort Saganne (1984), not to be confused with the American flicks Fort Tilden (2014) and Fort Bliss (2014), is a big budget production set in the Sahara Desert, circa 1911. Thanks to the direction of Alain Corneau, the film nabbed César Award nominations for Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, and Best Sound. Of course, Mr. Skin has a statuette in his pants for the movie’s sex scene! Based on Louis Gardel’s 1980 novel of the same name, this historical drama stars Gérard Depardieu as military man Charles Saganne, who earns the respect of the Arabs. As such, he becomes a hero in the French conquest of North Africa under the command of Colonel Dubreuilh (Philippe Noiret). In addition to being a fighter, Charles is a lover. Indeed, he’s got his eye on brunette beauty Madeleine of Saint-Ilette (Sophie Marceau). Yet when he travels to France on a diplomacy mission, be beds a blonde Parisian journalist named Louise (Catherine Deneuve). Ooh la la! Throughout the story, we also encounter Charles’s father (Pierre Tornade), Monsieur de Saint-Ilette (René Clermont) and Lady of Saint-Ilette (Sophie Grimaldi). Eventually, Saganne returns to Africa where he and Madeleine wed. You’ll moon over their honeymoon since she flashes her right breast when Gerard Depar-does her! With the consummation of this marriage, you expect a happily ever after for the characters. But since World War I is on the horizon, a happy ending is more likely for audiences who enjoy a view of Sophie’s boob!
