In the United States, the automobile has come to mean so much more than a means to transport the self from one place to another while seated and listening to Sammy Hagar on the radio melodically refusing the imposition of a fifty-five-mile-per-hour speed limit. In America, our cars are reflections of ourselves. Driving gives us freedom, power, puts our dreams in motion. Imagine the uproar, indeed the rebellion, if a misguided gang of Washington bureaucrats decided to outlaw individual ownership and operation of motor vehicles. Anarchy would reign, reckless and at high speed, just like it does in Firebird 2015 A.D. (1981). Keep your laws off our roads, politicians, or resign yourself to being ground into red asphalt.
