Drive-Away Dolls (2023)

This solo project from Ethan Coen, one half of the Oscar-winning Coen Brothers, opens in Philadelphia in 1999, with Pedro Pascal sitting in a bar and clutching a silver briefcase. He’s followed outside by one of the waitstaff and promptly killed for the briefcase’s secret contents, and now Colman Domingo’s The Chief is in charge of getting the briefcase to Tallahassee, Florida, by way of Curlie’s (Bill Camp) Drive-Away service. At the same time, however, Jamie (Margaret Qualley) gets kicked out of the apartment she shared with her lesbian lover Sukie (Beanie Feldstein), and decides to join her fellow lesbian pal Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan) on a road trip to Tallahassee to see her Aunt Ellis. Hijinks are already bound to ensue due to how different the ladies are: Jamie is a confident and overtly sexual chatterbox with an exaggerated Texas twang while Marian is a buttoned-up, frustrated introvert who hasn’t sex in three years. But then things get way more complicated when Curlie gives them the car to Tallahassee that was meant for The Chief’s two goons, played by Joey Slotnick and C.J. Wilson. Now they’re after the dolls, who eventually discover what’s hidden in the car’s trunk as they hit the lesbian bars, girl’s soccer team make-out parties, and hotel rooms along the way. As one might guess, there is a ton of sexy sapphic goodness throughout the film, with Margaret flashing us some boobage as she steps out on Beanie with the ample-breasted Annie Gonzalez. The closest we get to Geraldine showing skin is some fogged-up fanny in the shower, but nudecomer Savanna Ziegler delivers all three Bs during flashbacks as Geraldine’s character’s sunbathing neighbor. These dolls will definitely rev up your sex drive!
