Dredd (2012)

Now that sufficient time has passed since the abysmal 1995 Sylvester Stallone movie Judge Dredd, the comic anthology character Judge Joseph Dredd gets his chance at redemption in the action extravaganza Dredd (2012). Keith Urban stars as the titular Judge, a cop granted the power of judge, jury and instant executioner in a bombed-out post-apocalyptic America. One afternoon, Dredd is evaluating the rookie cop Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), who just so happens to have some psychic powers. Working the beat, the two are called to investigate crimes in a neighborhood where few cops dare to tread: Peach Trees, a 200-story slum controlled by powerful and ruthless drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey). But Ma-Ma isn't happy about the cops showing up to shut down her criminal enterprise. Soon enough, Dredd and the rookie are forced to fight their way through floor after floor of drug addicted, dangerous, psychotic criminals Hell bent on keeping Dredd from ruining their fun. But Dredd isn't going to lie down and play dead. Soon enough, he's mowing down all sorts of dudes with a ruthless efficiency. Critics and fans of the comic loved this one, but there wasn't as much nudity as Mr. Skin would have liked. Miss Thirlby had us all sorts of thirsty with her blonde bob in the movie. But just when it looked like we were getting a good look at her hooters during some sort of a psychic vision, the truth was revealed. In Dredd, she used the dreaded body double! Boo to faking your boobs! It might not have been Olivia, but whoever that lovely lady was in Dredd, we'd be happy to take her to bed!
