Kung Fu-kicker David Carradine and foxy former Playboy centerfold Claudia Jennings play peace-makers in the futuristic world of death and destruction encompassed in Deathsport (1978). Produced, of course, by B movie master Roger Corman and directed by future Caddyshack II (1988) head honcho Allan Arkush, this one sounds like something straight out of an eleven year old boy's dreams. And that's awesome. In a post apocalyptic USA, Lord Zirpola (David McLean) runs his city with an iron fist, and makes sure any rival who thinks about invading his kingdom understands how outgunned they'd be. How's he do that? He shows off his badass laser gunned dirtbikes called "Death Machines" in fights to the death among death row prisoners. He calls the new pasttime "Deathsport" and has just kidnapped the legendary warrior Kaz Oshay (David Carradine) to be his new main eventer. Since what's bread and circus without some tits, Lord Zirpola throws in a female fighter (Claudia Jennings) to mix things up, but doesn't realize that her and Kaz are going to team up to take out the other contestants before making their run for the hills of the nuclear wasteland. If you're thinking this sounds a whole lot like Deathrace (2000), that's very intentional. This was going to be the second film in the "Death" cinematic universe, until it tanked and "Deathworld" ended up cancelled. That's a shame, since there were some drop dead gorgeous babes in this one. Remember how we said this flick sounded like it was dreamt up by an eleven year old boy? Did you not realize that meant it included naked women? Yes, while Valerie Rae Clark and her very era appropriate bush go full frontal as a stripper doing some dancing for a future fella's pleasure, the star of this one is the gone too soon Claudia Jennings. In what would unfortunately be her penultimate feature film role, you won't last a second seeing her flash all three B's when Lord Zirpola forces her to be the new exotic dancer in town. We'll also see her going full frontal while tied down and tortured, and inevitably, in bed with David Carradine. Mr. Skin will take his chances on a dirtbike with a laser if winning means he got to lay with her! Deathsport may be like motocross where you die if you take a loss, but when it comes to banging Claudia Jennings, tapping that ass is worth risking some dude zapping your ass!
