To prove that she’s an A-caliber actress, the tall and busty Janet McTeer goes against type and plays a middle-aged virgin in Dead Romantic (1992). She’s such a talent that audiences believe she’s never been touched even as they’re touching themselves whenever Janet’s top slips off, which is often. It’s hot enough that she’s a virgin, but she’s also a tutor, which enflames old fantasies. That she may also be the next victim of a Jack the Ripper-type prostitute slicer-upper adds some tension. But the real stress in this film comes from below the belt.
