Cockfight (2002)

Oklahoma Senator Robert Knott is buried up to his nuts in political conflict in Cockfight (2002), a plucky flick that combines the majesty of rooster fighting with the exquisite presence of Wilford Brimley. Robert is dragged into the ring when one of his cockfighter constituents turns up dead and the cocksman's widow begs him to look into the supposed "suicide." He turns to his ex, FBI T&Agent Alexis Meneses, for help poking around the poultry scene to see what's cooking. There's a law pending in the state legislature that will outlaw cockfights, and the murder and corruption surrounding the issue stretches all the way from local law enforcement to cocky Governor Wilford himself.
