Two suburban girls venture into the big, bad city for a concert. The drug-addled junior member of a rabidly homicidal gang of thugs lures them back to his lair with the promise of drugs. Once there, the teens fall prey to his cutthoat cohorts: a lethal bisexual female, a heartless degenerate, and their mesmerizingly sleazy, psychotically sadistic leader. After the girls are ravaged, tortured, and killed, the creeps find themselves at the mercy of one slain lovely's parents. Yes, that is the plot of Wes Craven's 1972 horror landmark Last House on the Left. It is also the identical plot of Chaos (2005), an uncredited remake that ups the brutality (and nudity) of the original while also injecting the final payoff with almost unbearable nihilism. Kevin Gage is nauseatingly effective in the title role, playing the kingpin of the movie's horribly credible sex criminals. Maya Barovich and Chantal Degroat are both beautiful and startlingly naked over the course of Chaos, but don't expect to enjoy their bodies for too long--at least not in single pieces (of ass). Also forget about any of the comic relief that was on hand in Last House; Chaos is seriously horrific.
