Book of Love (2022)

The Amazon Original Movie Book of Love (2022) takes a slightly different path to the same destination one can always expect in a romantic comedy. Sam Claflin stars as Henry, an uptight English novelist whose books have all landed with a thud, bombing with both critics and readers alike. However, Henry soon gets word that his latest novel, which came and went in England without so much as a whimper, is a smash hit in Mexico. Before he knows it, he's en route to Mexico to meet the publishing company's rep Pedro (Horacio Villalobos) to plan a book tour throughout the country. Pedro then introduces Henry to Maria (Verónica Echegui), the woman who translated his book into Spanish, and he becomes immediately smitten with her. All of that changes when Henry is informed that the reason his book was such a smash hit in Mexico is because Maria decided to spice up the novel and added a number of steamy and explicit love scenes, which made the book into a sensation south of the border! Now Henry must reconcile his conflicted feelings for Maria, having to deal with the fact that he finds her attractive, but is also furious with her for changing the entire substance of his book! Spoiler alert, the two end up together—as if you didn't know that going in—and the flick's steamiest scene comes an hour and twenty minutes in when they hook up! Sadly star Verónica Echegui doesn't show any skin, but her sexy bod is enough to give this by the numbers rom com a little lift!
