Betty (1997)

Betty (1997) is a comedy about the world’s most famous actress who freaks out on the set of her latest Christmas blockbuster and runs away to hide in Palm Springs. There she meets three men who, like the Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion from another movie about escape, help her find her way home. Cheryl Pollack is the pretty betty of the title. While Holland Taylor, as her manager and therapist, fills the role of the Wicked Witch. The real wicked witch, though, is either the writer or director or producer or whomever decided to cast the waifishly sexy and then not have her get naked. Thankfully, this does take place in Palm Springs, which is hot, and Cheryl is hottest in a black bikini, which she wears through much of the movie.
