The epic poem that makes high-school English-lit class slightly more interesting gets turned into a sprawling sci-fi/horror blowout in director Graham Baker’s Beowulf (1999). International B-movie icon Christopher Lambert brings a lot of his Highlander-hewn sword-and-sorcery chops to the title role, as he sets out to smite evil members of his family. Rhona Mitra and Patricia Velasquez provide nice, albeit clothed, eye-candy, while Layla Roberts is luscious with her peak parts poking out of a weird webbed costume.
