Women’s relationships are much more complicated and fragile than are the friendships of men. In general day-to-day activity, the female of the species does its best to hide the fact that when interacting with others of their cloven subset they are competitive, envious, resentful, and pitiless. We men might be totally clueless as to the true nature of our udder halves if not for films so revealing and true as Antonia and Jane (1991). A comedy that accentuates every chuckle with a cringe, Antonia and Jane’s mismatched best friends claw and hiss at one another with dry British humor and wickedly sly wit as they give away the darkest secrets of the feminine mystique.
