Antares (2004)

Before Austrian filmmaker Götz Spielmann made the thriller Revanche (2008), he thrilled us with Antares (2004). The ensemble drama juggles a series of interrelated stories in a deft enough manner that it was considered for Oscar’s Best Foreign Language Film. Yet since the production received overwhelmingly negative reviews, it failed to make the cut and nab a nomination. Still, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deliver on Anatomy Award-worthy flesh. Eclectic in tone and character, the skinternational flick captures numerous slices of life — from adultery to sexual frustration — occurring in and around various Viennese apartments. For example, when a married nurse (Petra Morzé) fulfills her deepest and darkest desires with a co-worker, we get to see her full frontal nudity! In addition to baring her breasts, bush and butt, the blindfolded blonde reveals her kinky side. Whether blowing her bloke or showering her body, the skintastic actress shows off more than just her acting chops! If that’s not arousing enough, the film follows a pretty shopgirl (Susanne Wuest) who fakes a pregnancy as a way to hang on to her boyfriend. Suffice it to say, you’ll be hanging on to yourself when you watch the nude ingénue doing yoga in bed! After all, who wouldn’t want to go downward dog on the svelte starlet when she exposes her boobs, pubes and caboose? Throughout the 105-minute movie, the cast speaks German, Croation and English. And when it comes to Ms. Morzé and Ms. Wuest, Mr. Skin is fluent in the universal language!
