A would-be Lewis and Clark team bumbles through the Wild West in Christopher Guest’s slapstick period piece Almost Heroes (1998). Bent on becoming the first explorers to reach the Pacific, an alcoholic fur trapper (Chris Farley) and an ill-prepared guide (Matthew Perry) set out on an epic quest that finds them experiencing cross-cultural confusion with Frenchmen (Eugene Levy), Spaniards (Kevin Dunn), and other voyagers. Fortunately Indian princess Lisa Barbuscia speaks the eternal language of nudity as she bathes her bronzed body in a pristine lake.
