Los Angeles is a city overflowing with aliens, most of them originating from a locality and an ethnicity very close to home in the City of the Angels. Alien from L.A. (1988) exploits a type of alien separate from the norm. When a mistrusted outsider is female, stands almost six feet tall, projects super-confident posture, and parades around in the figure-filled torso of a highly paid swimsuit model, can she truly be termed alien? She can if she goes in search of her misplaced archaeologist father and follows him underground to a stunted society at the earth’s center where she and her old man are confronted as spies from above. Will this gorgeous freak of nature ever see sunshine again? More crucially, will sunshine ever again have the pleasure of gazing upon the Alien from L.A.?
