Review

The moral of the cable-TV thriller Above Suspicion (1995) is that even the greatest must one day fall, even Superman. Actor Christopher Reeve’s crowning cinematic achievement was his portrayal of the flying man of steel. In Above Suspicion, Reeve portrays a highly decorated cop who is confined to a wheelchair after a drug dealer’s bullet pierces his spine, presaging the actor’s later real-life paralysis in a horse-riding accident. To add adultery to injury, the paraplegic cop’s fully functioning wife is doing the horizontal dance of ultimate deception with his duplicitous brother. Bring in a million dollar life insurance policy and a messy, suspicious death, and suddenly no one is above suspicion.
