White Palace (1990) goes against conventional wisdom, striking up a steamy affair between a younger man and an older woman. But when that woman is Susan Sarandon, it's hard to find fault in the setup. James Spader is a 27-year-old widower and workaholic at an ad agency when he runs into 43-year-old Susan waiting tables at White Palace, which is the Hollywood version of the notorious White Castle chain. The two have little in common, but their parts fit together nicely, as exhibited in an uninhibited sex scene. The two lovers moan like coyotes. Susan's super-sacks are like full moons for Spader to howl at like the dog he is. His late wife, played by K.C. Carr, and a pasty-wearing topless stripper, played by Maria Patillo, round out the flesh. But Susan is the queen of this white palace.
