Training Day (2001)

Training Day (2001) takes the clichéd premise of teaming a young narc, Ethan Hawke, with a veteran officer on the make, Denzel Washington, and turns around expectations to deliver a stimulating drama. The role that won Denzel Washington the "Best Actor" Oscar is Detective Alonzo Harris, a veteran of the LAPD who uses all sorts of illegal tactics to take down the real criminals, while ignoring all sorts of petty crimes and gangbanger retaliations along the way. He's tasked with assessing the by the books bore, Officer Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) over the course of one day to see if he can handle running with the big dogs. From forcing Jake to smoke PCP and laughing at the Fourth Amendment, all the way to seizing drug money and opting to keep it, Jake can't believe the crookedness of this badass cop. But Alonzo might not just be a lawless law officer, he might have a plan to pin some of his worst stuff on his super green brother in blue. From the hilarious Chappelle's Show parody of the flick with Wayne Brady to everyone screaming "King King ain't got shit on me!" for like a year straight, this flick from Antoine Fuqua was instantly iconic when it came out. But people who caught the edited version might not realize it’s also a skintilating film thanks to the work of Miss Eva Mendes. At one point, Antoine goes home to have Eva's character suck his cock while he's still on the clock. Later, once Jake realizes he's been double crossed but remembers the address, Ethan Hawke bursts into the bedroom and discovers her with Washington. After Ethan sticks a gun in Denzel's face, Eva hops out of bed and rewards his impolite entrance with a three-B look at her goods. Mr Skin has been training for that day forever!
