Any male kid (and many females) of the '60s or of the later, rerun generations who didn't grip himself in a squeeze of ecstasy every time Ginger popped up on Gilligan's Island, raise your hand, the hand that did not hold that popping ecstasy. Those three liars and numb nuts with their hands up are the same trio of dopes who could conceive of wanting to be rescued from that island paradise. When Tina Louise made her critically acclaimed feature debut in the serious drama God's Little Acre (1958), she could not have known that her fame would be confined to Gilligan's little acreage. Though the steamy redheaded temptress has worked steadily in TV and a few films since her island days, it's only as Ginger that she continues to inhabit and inspire the fantasy life of skinema fans everywhere. A flash of side breast in Mean Dog Blues (1978) is almost enough to dislodge Tina's iconic image embedded during the aficionado's formative years, but not quite.
