Maryanne versus Ginger was the famous debate about who you were bating to for young men growing up in the 1960's. And with all due respect to the pig-tailed girl next door, it's red haired raven Tina Louise that always got our vote. Tina made her critically acclaimed feature debut in the serious drama God's Little Acre (1958), but she could not have known that her fame would be confined to Gilligan's little acreage. The professor never fixed the boat because he wanted to work with those coconuts! Tina didn't want to be typecast and apparently did not get along with costar Dawn Wells, so she avoided any the show's reunions and TV movies while appearing on various episodes of huge 70's and 80's television shows like Kung Fu, Kojak, The Love Boat, Dallas and Fantasy Island. Tina played the trophy wife robot we'd like to poke, prod and program, Charmaine Wimperis in The Stepford Wives (1975) but really got our gears moving with a quick glance at some side-boob as she gets a massage in Mean Dog Blues (1978). While she hasn't had a recurring role since the short lived soap opera Rituals in 1985, Tina has remained a steady actress. She appeared in All My Children, Married With Children, and Roseanne, in the 90's and has been acting in movies late into her eighties. Recently, she starred alongside Stephen Baldwin in Tapestry (2019) but it's doubtful she'll give us a nude scene at nearly ninety years old. Not that we wouldn't watch it!
