Mankind’s voracious desire for a greater abundance of energy leads to an apocalyptic showdown in the Austrian sci-fi flick Time Troopers (1985). After millions are slaughtered in a nuclear holocaust, survivors of the meltdown vow to decrease man’s reliance on energy. As a result, Orwellian police forces are dispatched to execute anyone abusing the “energy clips” they’re given. Peter Sämann’s thriller is predictably grim and action-packed, but he’s kind enough to dangle Hannelore Elsner before his camera. The busty Bavarian shows that she’s content to screw away the post-apocalyptic afternoons with her lucky hubby.
