The Wonder (2022)

The Wonder (2022), not to be confused with that kids movie Wonder (2017) or Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2013), comes to us from Chilean director Sebastián Lelio (Gloria, Disobedience, Gloria Bell) and stars Florence Pugh as a nurse named Lib living and working in England in the mid-19th century. She is brought to the Irish Midlands to observe an eleven year old girl named Anna O'Donnell (Kíla Lord Cassidy) who claims to have survived the last several months without any food. The village's hope is that Lib will be able to explain through medical science, how Anna has been able to subsist without food, but they're also terrified when it proves beyond Lib's medical understanding. While not the sexiest film in Florence Pugh's cv, stick around for the 38 minute mark when Florence flicks her bean and shows lots and lots of lovely leg! That's the real Wonder here!
