Jeepers Creepers Reborn (2022)

A very low budget, soft reboot of the original franchise that kicked off in 2001, this 2022 gory horror film is almost boringly faithful to the core elements rather than breathing new life into this boogeyman story and thus distancing itself from the legacy of its controversial creator, Victor Salva. The legend of the Creeper’s previous exploits are alive and well, and this time around, we have a horror superfan Chase (Imran Adams) and his secretly pregnant girlfriend Laine (Sydney Craven), winning tickets to a Creeper-themed escape room at a deteriorating mansion while in Louisiana for the Horror Hound Festival. They encounter the real thing, of course, this time surrounded by a weird cult who’ve targeted Laine and her unborn baby, ya know, like cults tend to do. Star Sydney gets to don a few sexy cosplay costumes for her randy boyfriend before being captured by the film’s big baddy, and then we get some glimpses of skin as she writhes on an altar. Maybe more nudity could’ve made this reboot more palatable? It definitely couldn’t hurt.
