A woman whose sister has been wrongly accused of subversive activities falls for a real-life revolutionary in The Sleeping Voice (La voz dormida) (2011). Pepita (Maria Leon) is a country girl who comes to Madrid in the midst of the Spanish Civil War to be closer to her sister Hortensia (Inma Cuesta), who is pregnant and wasting away in a government prison cell after being framed for revolutionary activities. Hunky guerrilla Paulino (Marc Clotet) isn't so innocent, but that doesn't stop Pepita from falling for him--hard. Speaking of, Maria is having a hard time when a Fascist agent rips open her dress and attaches electrodes to her nips, but that shouldn't stop you from having a hard time of your own.
