A fascination with human anatomy leads a woman and a man down a passionate yet dangerous path in The Sentiment of the Flesh (2010). Also known as Le Sentiment de la Chair, this French flick centers around an anatomical drawing student named Helena (Annabelle Hettmann) and a young radiologist called Beniot (Thibualt Vincon). Drawn together by their mutual obsession with the inner workings of the human body, the two begin a skintillating romance. But Helena’s desire to “memorize” Benoit’s body and Beniot’s desire to see past Helena’s flesh soon leads them down a dark hole with irreversible consequences. Written and directed by Roberto Garzelli, the mystery movie is a true chamber piece with only Thibulat and Annabelle on screen for most of the film, even though others (Claudia Tagbo, Emmanuel Salinger, Pierre Moure, and Pascal N’Zonzi) are in the cast. Medical fetishists will rejoice as Annabelle bares her breasts, and even some bush, inside an MRI machine 4 minutes, 35 minutes, and 40 minutes in. Merci beaucoup! For those who admire Euro-peaks, there’s plenty of peeping to be had as Annabelle’s flashes her rack in the bath and gives herself a breast exam in bed and in the backseat of a car. Talk about an overexposed actress! In another scene, Mademoiselle Hettmann bares her three Bs when her character is playfully wrestled to the ground by her guy during a two-minute screwing scene. Ooh la la! Suffice it to say, Mr. Skin’s sentiment is that Sentiment of the Flesh is c’est fantastique!
