The Overnight (2015)

Mr. Skin is over the moon for the sex comedy The Overnight (2015), not to be confused with the horror thriller The Overnight (2022). Patrick Brice’s well-received risqué romp became a film festival favorite for addressing sexually explicit situations in a new and refreshing way. The story centers around Seattle transplants Alex (Adam Scott) and Emily (Taylor Schilling) who are struggling to connect with L.A. and to one another — until they meet a sexually liberated couple for a  dinner party. After the kids are in bed, Alex, Emily and their new friends Kurt (Jason Schwartzman) and Charlotte (Judith Godrèche) continue to party. As the booze and drugs flow, so do the bad decisions. In other words, neither couple will ever be the same again. Long story short, you may get long in the shorts when you watch the comely cast doff their duds. For starters, Ms. Godreche undoes her shirt to reveal her rack, before being hooked up to a breast pump just 19 minutes into the movie. Less than 15 minutes later, she’s skinny-dipping in a pool and inviting Ms. Schilling to join her. Taylor shows off her fit figure in bra and panties but neglects to go naked. Thankfully Judith goes the extra mile by baring her bush underwater. Needless to say, as she makes a splash on screen, she’ll also do so in your jeans! Even though this critical darling didn’t play at the Cineplex, it’s totally worth watching at home — preferably with a box of tissues!
