The Other Laurens (2023)

This Belgian/French neo-noir thriller focuses, as most do, on Gabriel Laurens (Olivier Rabourdin), a PI whose specialty is investigating suspected adulterers. After visiting the nursing home of his senile mother, who mistakes him for his dead twin brother Francois, he’s visited by Francois’s daughter Jade (Louise Leroy). She’s convinced her dad’s death was not as accidental as it was ruled to be, and wants her uncle to help her find out the truth. Though he’s had nothing to do with his brother for years, after his mother passes, he goes with Jade to Francois’s lavish mansion on the border of Spain and France and discovers from Jade’ stepmother Shelby (Kate Moran) that Francois was having money troubles. Jade and Gabriel do some sleuthing and encounter more people possibly linked to Francois’s death, including some thuggish former employees and Shelby’s African-American brother Scott, who was a Marine and helicopter pilot. It’s a film filled with the usual suspects, and one unusual bit of nudity as we see Kate’s right nip while she takes a bubble bath in a gold and leopard print tub. Too bad we down’t get to see the other lady bubble!
